58% of Europeans support Ukraine's accession to NATO.

This is evidenced by the results of a sociological survey conducted by the Paris branch of the international sociological service Kantar Public.

During the survey, the citizens of Germany, France, Italy, Lithuania, Great Britain, Poland and the Netherlands were asked the question of Ukraine's hypothetical accession to NATO, subject to all conditions for membership in the alliance. A little over 1 thousand respondents were interviewed in each country.

It turned out that even in the most skeptical of France and the Netherlands, 49% of the respondents gave a positive answer. In Lithuania and Poland, Ukraine's accession to NATO would be supported by more than 70%.

The main argument in support of Ukraine's accession is that it is NATO's strategic interest. Also, Europeans believe that this will be "a reward for risk in the confrontation with Russia." The Poles preferred the third option - "Including Ukraine in NATO will help us fight back Russian aggression".

The opponents of Ukraine's accession to NATO cited the most popular argument: "Ukraine's inclusion in NATO can lead to a war with Russia."
