Dozens of Coptic families from El Arish were forced to (temporarily) leave the city upon receiving death threats from the North Sinai branch of the terrorist group ISIS.

According to the sources in Ismailia, the Egyptian security services have taken all necessary measures in order to receive 38 endangered Coptic families from El Arish.

The Evangelical community of Egypt said it was "working in coordination with other churches and authorities in order to assure the basic needs for the persecuted families." The Diocese of Ismailia also announced that the community has opened up a bank account in order to be able to receive donations for the families in need.

In an official statement, issued on Friday, the community called to "stop terrorism and other criminal acts that occurred recently in the Northern Sinai and targeted civilians, particularly those belonging to the Christian communities."
"These actions are primarily aimed at undermining the unity of the people of the nation who stand united in their struggle against terrorism", the statement further added.

Ismailia governor Major General Yasin Tahir confirmed that the Governorate currently hosts the Coptic families who will stay in Ismailia until life in El Arish goes back to normal.

In the past few days, the Coptic families in El Arish have received multiple threats from the terrorist group ISIS. Seven people were killed by ISIS in the last 3 weeks.
