The National Bank of Ukraine is ready to enact sanctions against it's sister bank, according to the official website of the NBU.

It is noted that the reason for this decision was information appearing about a Russian bank servicing the citizens with passports of the Lugansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic.

The National Bank referred to the decision as a precedence from which to apply sanctions against individual legal persons, adopted by the "Council of national security and defense of the country" and enacted by a decree signed by the president of Ukraine.

Previously, it was a demand to impose sanctions against the associates of the Savings Bank. The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Arsen Avakov stated that the bank should be "expelled from the country."

Vladimir Putin in mid-February, signed a decree on recognition of Russian passports issued to Ukrainian citizens and stateless persons residing in the territories of certain areas of the DPR and LPR regions of Ukraine, for the political settlement of the situation in these areas.

Sberbank, the well known Russian bank, began to serve citizens with passports DNR and LNR from the seventh of March.
