The deputies of the Verkhovna Rada, supporting the blockade of Donbass, are now trying to provoke an escalation of the conflict in the east, to quarantine the region, said the deputy from the Opposition Block party, Vasily Nimchenko.
"Such actions of pseudo-patriots lead to a split in Ukraine. It's not just about the territory and, above all, the result is the separation and alienation of a once united people.", Nimchenko stated.
Nimchenko opined that the statement of the organizers of the blockade, which described their desire to seek justice and protection of Ukrainians from the threat of expansion of the conflict were "nothing more than a verbal strawman".
The politician said that the situation, where the population is leaving en masse from Kiev for the third year, and passports from the DPR and LPR are being recognized by Russia that; "With the declaration of the blockade we push away the Donbass and abandon millions of our fellow citizens" .
"As a result of the Blockade, the residents will be in isolation, their awareness of the hopelessness of this situation may lead them to the rejection of Ukrainian identity, and then return of the Donbass in Ukraine (not the territory and the people but their hearts and souls) will be very difficult.", Nimchenko stated, adding that residents of Donbass are well aware that the blockade is an action of extremists that the government is unable to control, and not the actions of the Ukrainian state, which has shocked the whole of Europe.
In late January, a group of former members of the military operation in the Donbass, including deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and associated extremists blocked several railway connections that previously allowed transit of goods, which led to an energy crisis in Ukraine.
