Donbass veterans to be armed as reservists
The leader of the Donetsk People's Republic, Aleksandr Zakharchenko, has ordered to give weapons to citizens who have combat experience from serving in the army or in the militia. AK-74's and machine guns will be handed over for personal storage under the condition of immediate appearance for war with the distributed weapon in the case of an enemy invasion.
Military training camps were recently introduced in the DPR in which 27 thousand reservists have taken part. Some of the reservists with combat experience have received small weapons for personal storage directly at the camp, while the rest will be issued during military registration and enlistment in the offices in places of residence.
According to Eduard Basurin, the Deputy Commander of the DPR’s Operational Command, the main task of the reservists is to cooperate in the case of a large-scale offensive by the Ukrainian army.
LPR to reorient coal industry towards Russia by the end of May
This plan was announced by Pavel Malgin,the Acting Minister of Fuel, Energy and Coal Industry of the People's Republic of Lugansk, at a meeting of the Council of Ministers of the LPR.
Malgin also revealed that in the first quarter of 2017, the coal enterprises of the Republic have extracted 311 thousand tons of coal.
Earlier, the Acting First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers and the Minister of Emergency Situations, Sergey Ivanushkin, said that the authorities of the People's Republic of Lugansk are working to conclude new contracts for the supply of coal to the Russian Federation and to other countries.
Ukraine, having organized the blockade of Donbass, has punished itself. The coal so direly needed by Ukrainian TPP's is now being supplied to Russia.
Memorial plaque unveiled in Lugansk in memory of the first leader of the LPR
In memory of the first leader of the LPR, Valery Bolotov, some activists from public organizations in the Lugansk region have installed a memorial sign on the house where he lived (at 20A Oboronnaya street). The plaque is placed on the facade of the house. The money for the installation of the commemorative sign was collected among the friends, relatives and comrades-in-arms of the first leader of the LPR.
“He was a simple guy from our city, who has gone down not only in the history of Lugansk, but his name is also written down in golden letters in the history of great Russia", said Igor Gumenyuk, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the public organization "Union of Communists of the Lugansk region". According to him, Valery Bolotov gave hope to the residents of the Lugansk region.
"Valery Bolotov will forever remain in our memory as a true people's leade, who significantly contributed to the formation of the Lugansk People's Republic," said Alexander Kharitonov, one of the leaders of the Anti-Maidan in Lugansk.
On May 18th, 2014, at the first session of the Republican Assembly (Supreme Council) of the LPR, Valery Bolotov was elected Head of the Lugansk People's Republic. On August 14th, 2014, he announced his temporary resignation, citing the consequences of a wound. Then he went to Moscow, where he worked on organizing humanitarian aid for the LPR, for business, and for the organization of social movement. He died suddenly on January 27th, 2017, in Moscow of heart failure.
Ukraine does not want to see Slavs in the OSCE mission
Ukraine is not satisfied with the current composition of the OSCE mission that is going to work in Donbass. This was stated by the first vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine, Irina Gerashchenko. Specifically, she protests against the fact that, over the past year, too many Serbs, Belarusians and Russians have been included in the mission. In particular, the number of Serbs in the renewed OSCE composition has been increased by 9 times, the representatives of Belarus by 8 (there was only one of them at the beginning) and the number of Russian citizens has been increased at least by 2 times — there were 20 representatives at the beginning, now there are 40.
According to Gerashchenko, such a basis for the OSCE mission is "not normal". Apparently, Gerashchenko, like the entire Ukrainian government, worries about the fact that Serbs, Russians and Belarusians will insist on an honest fixation of all the violations of the Ukrainian army in the zone of the so-called Anti-Terrorist Operation.
About one month ago, during another escalation on the Donbass frontline, the Ukrainian military shot down an OSCE drone. This caused strong discontent among European observers concerning the actions of the Ukrainian army. Considering that the Ukrainian side was the initiator of the escalation, it would have been advantageous for it to avoid the OSCE observation, which confirms the fact that it was behind this.
LPR opens mobile social assistance center near Luganskaya Station
This year, in mid-February, the leaders of the LPR and DPR approved a program of humanitarian assistance to compatriots living in the Ukrainian-occupied part of Donbass.
On April 1st, at the Stanitsa Luganskaya checkpoint in the LPR, a mobile center for social assistance to residents of the part of the Lugansk region controlled by Kiev began its work. The Acting Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the People’s Republic of Lugansk, Aleksandr Drobot, noted that the residents of the Lugansk region controlled by Kiev will now be able to receive consultations at the mobile center regarding social assistance from the LPR, medical and educational services, and, moreover, veterans or their trustees will receive a one-time cash benefit.
According to the employees of the mobile center, they can serve up to 50 veterans or their authorized representatives daily.
