Recep Tayyip Erdogan, head of the Turkish regime, has declared an official victory in the Sunday's referendum on constitutional amendments.

Although the official results have yet to be announced, Anadolu News Agency reported that Erdogan won the referendum with a total of 51.2% of all the votes, after all ballots were counted. 47.5 million votes were cast.

The referendum brings significant extension of Erdogan's powers. From now on, Erdogan will be the head of both, the state and the government, in addition to being able to sack and appoint new ministers and vice presidents, control state institutions, veto decisions, adopted by parliament and even renew the elections (with at least 3/5 of the parliament voting in favour).

Meanwhile critics and the politicians, belonging to the opposition parties, are highly skeptical of the referendum. According to some, the referendum will likely bring an end to secularism in Turkey, given Erdogan's strong Neo-Ottomanist agenda, best evident from his involvement and invasion of Syria and his ongoing persecution of minorities and secular-minded people, academics and political activists.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu, leader of the Kemalist-leaning CHP, Turkey's largest opposition party, has already said his party will not accept the results, due to the fact that the High Electoral Board changed the rules of voting not long after the voting has started. It declared that all unstamped ballots will be counted as valid (despite the official rules that were initially introduced stated they will not be), unless they are proven to have been brought from outside, thus making a move not made in accordance with the law.

It is expected that referendum will cause a lot of controversy in the coming days.

The final results are expected to be announced in 11 or 12 days.
