On Monday-Tuesday night, April 17th, the Normandy Four - Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande, and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko - held a telephone conversation in which they agreed that the group’s work should continue in the same format after the French presidential elections.

The Kremlin’s press service statement reads: “Gratitude was expressed to President of the French Republic, Francois Hollande, for his service as part of the Normandy Four and the hope was expressed that work in this format will be continued after the presidential elections in France.”

The heads of state of the Normandy Four positively evaluated the agreement on continuing the Easter ceasefire in Donbass, the decision on which was successfully worked out at a meeting of the Contact Group on March 29th. Also discussed was the need to exchange prisoners according to the a “all for all” system. In addition, the Normandy Four leaders expressed regret over threats to the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE.
