Violent clashes are not stopping in the heart of the old city of Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city. An intense battle is going on  between ISIS terrorists and the Iraqi forces who are trying to liberate the Great Mosque of Al Nuri in the old city of Mosul.

The Iraqi forces are said to be making constant advancements. The ground troops are being supported by the Iraqi Air Force which allows for quicker advancements against ISIS. Mortars are being fired by the ground units, targeting ISIS positions in the vicinity of the Great Mosque of Al Nouri.

Currently, the Iraqi forces are about 300 meters away from the mosque and are making slow, but constant progress on a daily basis which would eventually allow them to liberate Iraq’s iconic mosque (and also an important strategic site).
