A Russian military adviser has been killed in Syria as a result of sniper fire. This has been reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.
"As a result of shelling by a militant unit of Syrian troops, Russian military advisor Lt. Col. Alexei Buchelnikov has been killed."
Buchelnikov was in Syria as part of a group of Russian military advisers, fulfilling learning objectives of the Syrian army.
