Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that process of discussing the key parameters for establishing a new de-escalation zone in the south of Syria has been completed, noting that details, related to the issue, are currently being resolved.

“The process of creating de-escalation zone continues. The key parameters have already been discussed. The details are now being resolved, relating to how it will operate specifically to ensure that the ceasefire regime between the government troops and the armed opposition is respected in order to provide for the unhindered humanitarian access,” Lavrov was heard saying during a press conference with his Sierra Leonean counterpart in Moscow.

He also affirmed the US presence in Syrian territory has no legal basis, since it was not established in coordination with legitimate Syrian authorities, pointing out that the United States is trying to cover up this.

He added that Russia would never dare to resort to any of such things, noting that Russia operates two bases in Syria, whose foundation was based on a bilateral agreement between the two countries.
