Something that falls under the radar quite a bit – terrorism in non- Western countries. Two attacks took place over the past day, in Kabul Afghanistan and Lahore, in Pakistan.
In Lahore, at least 22 people were killed and 32 were injured in the explosion at a vegetable market. Of the 32 victims, 11 are in critical condition.
The police say that the explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber, where three policemen were also killed.
In Kabul, Afghanistan – the death toll in the terrorist attack has risen to 35 people and 42 were wounded when a suicide bomber blew up the vehicle he was travelling in.
Of course we here in the West often view these kinds of attacks as a Muslim crime against the West – but its important to acknowledge that the Middle East itself suffers a lot more often from these types of attacks. Just because it’s under reported does not mean it’s somehow less violent or destabilising to the people who live there.
