The US Naval Fleet has conducted the world's first test of a laser weapon.

"It is more precisely a bullet. This is a very versatile weapon, it can be used against a variety of purposes, "- said the ship's captain.

These weapons shoot at the speed of light, which, by comparison, is 50,000 times faster than intercontinental ballistic missiles.

To test the weapons on, the military launched an unmanned aircraft, weapons, which are increasingly used on Iran, North Korea, China, Russia and other opponents.

During the firing, the wing of the drone ignited and fell into the water. The shot occurred quietly and invisibly.

"It works in an electromagnetic spectrum, so that you do not see the beam, it does not produce any sound, it is completely soundless and extremely effective because of that"

It costs $40 million only to supply electricity, which is produced by a small generator, and a team of 3 people.

While the laser is intended to destroy aircraft and small ships,  the Navy is developing a powerful second-generation system, to defeat larger objects - missiles. These ongoign developments remain classified.
