NHK, Japan's largest broadcasting organization has reported that North Korea has launched an unidentified missile that passed directly over Japan.
Officials said the missile passed over Japan at around 06:06 AM local time.
South Korea's military said North Korea fired the "unidentified projectile" from Pyongyang towards the sea at 5:57am local time.
Meanwhile NHK confirmed that the missile passed over safely without detonating or reaching a target and that the Japanese military made no attempts to shoot it down.
