Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has called the new procedures for Russian citizens obtaining visas to the US "an inertia of the Obama administration." This logic is known, it is the logic of those who organize color revolutions," he said at a press conference.
The decision taken by Washington is intended to cause dissatisfaction of Russian citizens with the actions of the Russian authorities, the minister said.
On Monday, the US embassy said that on August 23, it will suspend the issuance of non-immigrant visas to Russians. On September 1 the procedure will resume only in Moscow and no other consulates. The decision is connected with the reduction of personnel at the request of the Russian Federation, the diplomatic mission said.
