Syrian Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Najdat Anzour, met with Daur Kove, the Abkhazian Foreign Minister, on Sunday.
The two discussed ways to strengthen diplomatic relations and boost cooperation between the countries in all fields.
Anzour expressed the need to exchange visits between parliamentarians of Syria and Abkhazia, noting the importance of forming such joint friendship committees which will help to achieve the common goals.
In turn, Kove said that merely holding the Damascus International Fair in this time is a victory for Syria, adding that participation of Abkhazian delegation in the event has further goals of strengthening the ties between the two countries.
He added that the United States is trying to isolate Syria from international community, much in the same way as it is also trying to isolate the Republic of Abkhazia, noting that in such circumstances a cooperation between the two is more than needed, while also expressing hope that Syria will recover and that security and stability will eventually be completely restored.
For his part, the Abkhazian Economy Minister Adgur Ardzinba stressed the importance of developing economic relations and trade exchange between the countries.
“During our visit to Damascus International Fair, we witnessed the positive development of Syrian economy, as we were introduced to Syrian products of high quality”, Ardzinba noted.
