The Russian Ministry of Defense issued a statement yesterday, saying that intense airstrikes carried out by its Syrian-based combat aviation units in and around the town of Ash-Shula (itself located about 30 km west of Deir Ez Zour city) on Tuesday, resulted in annihilation of at least 200 ISIS militants and destruction of 4 tanks, as well as 8 armored vehicles, belonging to ISIS and the aligned groups.
Earlier, Russian forces carried out four cruise missile strikes (initially it was believed to be three) through its frigate stationed in the Mediterranean, destroying a communications center and three weapons depots used by ISIS terrorists in western Deir Ez Zour.
On Tuesday, Syrian military declared a victory against ISIS terrorists in the eastern province of Deir Ez Zour. Despite this, some gatherings of ISIS terrorists can still be found in the area.
