The Al-Qaeda affiliated Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), or more commonly but formerly known as Jabhat al-Nusra, have announced on their Telegram account that their current leader, Abu Mohamed al-Jolani, was not wounded by a Russian airstrike in Idlib's northeastern countryside on Wednesday.
Earlier it was reported by Fort Russ News that Igor Konashenkov, spokesman for the Russian Minstry of Defense, said that al-Joulani has fallen into a coma following a precise Russian airstrike that targeted a high-profile meeting killing at least 12 filed commanders and 50 other terrorists
Al-Joulani reportedly lost an arm and fell into a coma as a result of the airstrike.
However, the HTS announcement was not followed up with any evidence that al-Jolani was in good health.
The Telegram announcement stated that: “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham denies what was circulated in the media about the injury of Sheikh Abu Mohammad Al-Jolani and confirms that the sheikh is in good health and is carrying out fully all the duties entrusted to him,” the Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham statement read.
