Syrian President Bashar Al Assad today received a Russian economic delegation, consisting of several government officials, as well as a number of directors and representatives of various Russian companies.
The delegation was headed by Kirill Molodtsov, the Russian Deputy Minister of Energy.
During the meeting, they discussed diplomatic and economic relations between the countries, stressing importance of strengthening economic cooperation between Syria and Russia, mostly by boosting the trade and launching new investment projects, particularly in the fields of natural resources, transportation, pharmaceutical industries, and infrastructure, a thing that would make up for what was destroyed by terrorism.
President Al Assad noted that the victories of the Syrian Army, which were of course achieved also with the help of the friendly countries, particularly Russia, are the main reason for resumption of stability and security in many places throughout Syria, and thus pave way for an increased economic situation which is highly important in the process of reconstruction.
He added that it is natural for the friendly countries, who supported Syrians in their struggle against terrorism, to be involved in the process of reconstruction of Syria.
For his part, the Russian Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov, said contributing to the reconstruction of Syria is one of the top priorities for many Russian companies at the moment, while stressing the need to take advantage of the great opportunities that await in the field of economic cooperation, and which are in the interest of the two countries and both nations.
He affirmed that Russia, its government and its people are determined to continue to provide various forms of support to the Syrian leadership and its people amid the war on terror, assuring that Russian support will not stop until all of Syria is free of the terrorist threat.
