The Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Wednesday that his country is ready to face any American action or provocation regarding the nuclear deal signed in 2015.
While delivering a speech at the meeting of the Islamic Consultative Council of Iran today, Zarif said that US President Donald Trump threatened to take action against the nuclear deal with Iran, although none of these threats mean he will in fact withdraw from the deal completely, stressing that the reason for Trump’s stance towards Iran are its regional and international achievements made on various levels.
After the Council’s meeting, the head of the Iranian Islamic Consultative Council, Ali Larijani, said that developments in the region require more consultation and coordination between the Council and the Iranian government to follow up the situation and promptly respond to any new positions and provocations, particularly as regards the US.
“The nuclear deal played a highly positive role in building confidence between Iran and the Western countries, and provided an opportunity for Tehran to carry out its peaceful nuclear activities freely”, Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Akbar Salehi said on Monday.
