The annual meeting of the international discussion club "Valdai" in Sochi was interesting, as always. As usual, the culmination of the event was the speech of the Russian president and his answers to questions on a wide variety of subjects.
For greater intelligibility, Putin at such meetings speaks all more directly. For example, about the "rudeness" in international politics and the fact that there is still an alternative to this rudeness. Putin did not call out America, but it was clear to everyone about whose rudeness was discussed.
"It is absolutely necessary to solve this problem through dialogue, not to drive North Korea into a corner, not to threaten the use of force, not to sink to frank rudeness and abuse," the head of state is sure.
As for an effective alternative to rudeness and abuse in international relations, Putin gave an example - our Syrian experience.
"It just shows that such an arrogant and destructive policy is an alternative: Russia confronts terrorists along with the legitimate government of Syria and other states of the region, acts on the basis of international law," the president said.
That is, there is an alternative, if it is willing to be found.
"The US had missiles which we never used to - we believe that we aligned the situation now. From our side the answer will be instant, I want to say that it will be instant and mirrored," the president stressed.
Western media caught on to this phrase at once - is Moscow threatening? The President assured he was simply warning of Russia's nuclear capability.
