The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that Russian diplomats were returned a file archive from the consulate general of the Russian Federation in San Francisco and the national flags removed from the building .
"Yes, they returned the flags and returned the archive, but all this is accompanied by a series of actions that are absolutely unacceptable for us," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov.
He reminded that flags are one of the highest state symbols, therefore such treatment from them on the part of the authorities of the host state is provocative.
"They violated diplomatic immunity," - said Ryabkov.
The Deputy Foreign Minister recalled that international law allows direct mirror imaging, if the country is subjected to such hostile actions.
"We warn the American side that such things are not forgotten," the diplomat summed up.
On September 2, at the request of the US authorities, the Russian Consulate General in San Francisco and trade missions in Washington and New York were closed. Moscow called these actions an unfriendly step on the part of Washington. Then the Americans removed flags from Russian diplomatic missions. Russian diplomats are working to prepare a lawsuit against the United States in connection with the seizure of Russia's diplomatic powers in Washington and San Francisco.
