October 23 , 2017 - Fort Russ News -

"The transition of the Ukrainian army to NATO standards will not be as fast as we would like", said the chief of the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Viktor Muzhenko.

"A lot of weapons and military equipment in Ukraine is the production of the former USSR. Now we are getting examples of small arms that are produced in Ukraine - it's a carbine M4 caliber 5.56. The process is under way, but everything will depend on how intensively the rearmament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is applied" -  said Muzhenko in an interview with the Ukrainian service "Voice of America."

The tenth battalion of the Ukrainian military has started to transition to NATO standards, he said.

Nine battalions have already been trained to the appropriate standards, with the help of American servicemen.
