DAMASCUS, Syria. Syrian authorities condemned the crimes against civilians perpetrated by the US-led so-called “anti-ISIS” international coalition, stressing that various suspicious activities of the international alliance also aim to thwart Syrian Army’s progress against ISIS terrorists and undermine its efforts.
The Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry expressed its strong condemnation of the attacks of the International Coalition on civilian areas and the war crimes against civilians, pointing out that a great number of states involved in the coalition often claim to be concerned about the rule of law and human rights in Syria, while in fact some of these states could be considered as participants in the war crimes.
In its letter addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the UN Security Council, the Ministry called on the Security Council to act immediately and stop the war crimes committed by the Washington-led alliance against innocent civilians, prevent further attacks on Syrian civilians and assure that Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be respected.
The letter of the Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry comes right in time when the alleged international coalition led by the United States (under the pretext of fighting terrorist group ISIS in Syria and Iraq) keeps targeting residential areas in Raqqah and Deir Ez Zour, while allowing illegal militias to attack the positions of the Syrian Army and its allies amid the fight against ISIS.
Yesterday, at least 10 civilians were killed and many more left injured in a new massacre by the US-led International alliance in Al Duwaiji village in Tal Al Shaer area, located in the very east of Deir Ez Zour province at the Iraqi border.
