BEIRUT, Lebanon. Lebanon's Progressive Socialist Party and Druze leader Walid Jumblatt expressed deep regret over strained relations with Saudi Arabia, stressing that Lebanon should not be accused of declaring war on anyone.
In a telephone interview with the news agency Reuters, Jumblatt said that Lebanon does not deserve to be accused by Saudi Arabia of declaring war on it.
“It is really sad that Saudi Arabia treats Lebanon this way after being friends with us for decades”, he said.
Earlier this week, the Saudi minister of Gulf Affairs, Thamer Al Sabhan accused the Lebanese government of “warmongering” against Saudi Arabia, adding that Hezbollah is a hostile party.
Yesterday, Saudi Arabia ordered its citizens staying in Lebanon to immediately leave the country and not return until further notice.
