Hackers hijacked a major commercial radio station in Sweden and ran an ISIS recruitment song for about 30 minutes.
Thousands of listeners of Mix Megapol suddenly got their morning show program interrupted by an ISIS recruitment song on Friday, and which was repeated at least 10 times before things were turned back to normal. The song itself was about three minutes long.
Mix Megapol is one of the largest radio stations in Sweden with a daily audience of approx. 1.4 million people.
Jakob Gravestam, director of marketing at Mix Megapol, said its frequency got hijacked by a pirate transmitter and that the authorities were informed of what had happened.
It is not known whether hackers were affiliated with ISIS.
Sweden is a major European islamist hotbed, with hundreds of its citizens (mostly of migrant background) having joined the ranks of ISIS since 2014.
The country was also one of the major backers of the Syrian jihadists.
