DAMASCUS, Syria. Syrian Speaker of the Parliament, Hammoudeh Al Sabbagh, met on Tuesday with Arshak Poladian, the Armenian ambassador to Syria.
The two expressed the need for strengthening relations between Syria and Armenia in all fields, especially in politics and diplomacy in order to further deepen the friendship between both nations.
“Syria and Armenia have long been bound by deeply-rooted brotherly ties”, said Al Sabbagh, while expressing Syrian people's gratitude to Armenians for their support in the war against terrorism and providing humanitarian relief.
He also expressed his hope that Armenia will play a visible role once the process of rebuilding Syria fully begins.
Poladian, in turn, pointed to the common history, denominations and principles bounding the two nations, stressing that Syria has “a special place in the heart of every single Armenian.”
He noted that the war against Syria is nearing its end, assuring that his country will continue to remain fully supportive of the Syrian Army and the government until all terrorists are defeated.
