The Taha division of Tiger Forces, the elite Syrian Army special forces unit, has launched the Abu Kamal offensive from the eastern countryise of Mayadeen (the former de-facto capital of ISIS).
The Syrian Army began the offensive by firing several mortar shells and missiles towards the ISIS’ defenses east of Mayadeen.
This is in conjunction with the 4th Division, Hezbollah, and IRGC making a push from the T-2 Pumping Station axis towards Abu Kamal.
Abu Kamal is the last remaining ISIS stronghold in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ez Zour.
