The Ukrainian women's movement FEMEN closed shop in the year 2015, according to activist Yana Zhdanova.
"FEMEN does not exist anymore. It was ended already in 2015. They all split up, like ships asea. The team that was before is no longer," said Zhdanova in an interview with the Ukrainian publication Apostrophe.
According to Zhdanova, the original conception of the movement is over, though individual actions go on in other countries.
"Today, FEMEN is no longer an organization, but rather a style of protest, a stye that we modeled throughout the time of our existence. They just borrow it."
She added that the collapse of the organization began with the onset of "self-proclaimed leaders."
The movement became known thanks to the shocking nature of its protests, in which the activists appeared with breasts bared to attract public attention.
