Moscow condemned both terrorist attacks that struck Damascus earlier on Wednesday, claiming the lives of more than 30 civilians and leaving dozens of them injured.

“We condemn the terrorist attacks which are clearly aimed at undermining the efforts of the third round of International negotiations on solving the Syrian crisis in Astana and wish a speedy recovery to those injured” Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, while also expressing condolences to the families of the victims.

The statement points out to the failure of the UN Security Council to condemn such terrorist atrocities and  callied for intensifying the international efforts to deal with the terrorist threat.

Dozens of civilians were killed and injured in two terrorist attacks. The first one struck the Al Hamidiyeh district in the old city of Damascus, famous for its bazaar, when a suicide bomber entered the Justice Palace and blew himself up. The second attack occurred an hour later in Al Rabweh area New Damascus. A terrorist who was on the run from security forces, blew himself up next to the restaurant, injuring several civilians, most of them women and children.

No responsibility was claimed so far.

The attacks occurred on the 6th anniversary of the violent sectarian uprising that is ever since devastating the country.
