A new round of talks in Geneva on ending the Syrian crisis has started. For the time being, the talks are said to be predominantly focused on developments on the ground in Syria.
In regards to the current incidents in Damascus, representative of the Saudi-funded Riyadh platform said that "what is happening in Damascus is a self - defense."
UN spokeswoman, Alessandra Velochi, confirmed that the deputy Syrian UN envoy, Ramzi Izz Al Din will hold bilateral talks with delegations, stressing that the topic will focus on four issues, namely parallel governance, constitutional amendments, elections and counter - terrorism measures.
The expectations of the outcome are said to be very modest and the possibilities of achieving any results very low.
