The leaders of the United States and Japan agreed during a telephone conversation to cooperate closely in order to apply pressure on North Korea, said Deputy Secretary of the Japanese Cabinet Koichi Hagiuda.
According to the Kyodo news agency, Hagiuda said Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump decided to use the next G20 summit in Hamburg to be held on July 7 and 8 to increase pressure on Pyongyang.
In recent months, the tensions caused by North Korean nuclear and missile programs have risen dramatically due to increased launches and testing. The international community, including the United States, repeatedly condemned Pyongyang's activities.
