The Iraqi Army Forces, backed by the Popular Mobilization Units, launched a military operation on Saturday, in order to track down ISIS cells in the areas northeast of Baquba in Diyala.
The new military operation comes as a preparation for the major-scale operation aimed at liberating Hawija, in which as many as 40,000 fighters will reportedly participate.
The Iraqi military sources said the Iraqi Air Force already dropped thousands of warning leaflets on the areas of Hawija, and the left coast of Sharqat, urging ISIS terrorists to surrender themselves as the “clock calculation is ticking.”
The sources added that Iraqi aircrafts also carried out several raids, targeting the locations of booby traps and ISIS warehouses, killing dozens of the terrorists.
