An ISIS-linked terrorist who planned to carry out hundreds of attacks in the Iranian capital of Tehran has been arrested, a division of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said.
Colonel Amin Yaamini, the commander of the local IRGC division Shahriar County, told in a news conference that the terrorists were arrested in Andisheh town.
It was revealed that the terrorist belonged to the ISIS-affiliated Ajnad al-Sham group which operates in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Hama.
“So far, very important information has been collected from the ISIS element’s phone, and he remains under investigation,” he said.
The apprehension of the terrorist has also meant that a network that planned to conduct 300 terror attacks in Tehran during the Shi'ite holy month of Muharram was dismantled.
