Federal Iraqi authorities to take over Kurdistan-based mobile networks - Like This Article

Federal authorities in Iraq have decided that it will take over control of mobile phone networks based in the Iraqi Kurdistan Region, which conducted an unconstitutional independence referendum on September 25, and relocate them to Baghdad.
"The government committee for national security has decided that all mobile phone networks must be under the federal control and should be moved to Baghdad," the government said in a statement following a cabinet meeting on Monday.
No networks were identified in the statement but it is assumed to be directed at Korek based in the Kurdish region's capital of Erbil, and at Asiacell based in Sulaymaniyah.
The measure is in direct response to the referendum that took place that has been criticized by much of the internal community, with the exception of Israel which wholly supports it.
