Iraq to reopen pipeline to Turkey that bypasses Kurdistan - Like This Article

October 10, 2017 - Fort Russ News - Paul Antonopoulos

Iraq will reopen a discontinued crude oil pipeline to Turkey that was shut after ISIS took over territory that the pipeline passed through, the oil ministry said in a statement on Tuesday.

This pipeline bypasses one operated by the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) which has become increasingly isolated since it conducted an unconstitutional independence referendum on September 25.

Iraq's oil minister, Jabar al-Luaibi, has asked state-owned North Oil Co., the operator of the Kirkuk fields, the State Company for Oil Projects and the state pipeline company to begin the process of restoring and reopening the Kirkuk Ceyhan pipeline.

KRG wholly relies on Turkey's Ceyhan port to export its oil to the world and Turkey in recent weeks have threatened to shut the pipeline.
