Russian stealth submarines Veliky Novgorod and Kolpino which are patrolling the Mediterranean, launched 10 Kalibr cruise missiles on Thursday, the Russian Defense Ministry spokesman General Igor Konashenkov said in a statement.
The Russian spokesman said the submarines fired the missiles while submerged and hit several command centers, large ammunition depots, as well as hangars, used to house the armored vehicles belonging to ISIS terrorists, all of them located the vicinity of the town of Mayadeen, the most important ISIS stronghold in the eastern Syrian province of Deir Ez Zour.
“To hit these targets, Velikiy Novgorod and Kolpino submarines of the Black Sea Fleet have performed two multiple launches of Kalibr cruise missiles from the Mediterranean,” Konashenkov said.
