White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said that Russia, at the UN shields the Syrian authorities from responsibility for the use of chemical weapons against civilians.
According to Sanders, Russia does not want to stop the practice of using chemical warfare agents around the world.
As the spokesman said, the blocking of the extension of the investigation powers can only mean that Moscow supports the use of the Assad regime of chemical weapons, utilsed against women and children.
To the contrary, Russia facilitated the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons in 2013.
On October 24, Russia blocked a draft resolution of the United Nations Security Council concerning the extension of one more year of the mandate of a joint UN group, and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria against civilians.
