Damascus has sent two letters to the Security Council and the UN Secretary General with a demand to take measures to end the war crimes of the international coalition, led by the United States. This was stated by the Syrian Foreign Ministry in a statement issued for the media.
Earlier it became known that on Saturday, the planes of the coalition struck at the Syrian village of Douaizhi in the province of Deir ez Zor, on the border with Iraq, where ten civilians were killed.
"The Syrian government calls on the UN Security Council to immediately stop the monstrous crimes of this illegal coalition against innocent civilians and take measures to prevent crimes against the Syrian people and the sovereignty of Syria," the document says.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the actions of the coalition are aimed at creating obstacles for the Syrian army and its allies in the fight against ISIS.
"The Syrian government categorically condemns the aggression of the international coalition."
Earlier, the country's permanent mission to the United Nations sent similar letters accusing the coalition of covering the retreat of ISIS fighters from Raqqa and Deir ez Zor, during operations to liberate these cities.
The United States and the international forces operate in Syria without consent and coordination with Damascus, and without a UN Security Council resolution. In late October, the coalition acknowledged the deaths of 786 civilians as a result of its attacks in Syria and Iraq since the start of the military operation "against terrorists" in August 2014.
