Russian Federation has vetoed a US-drafted UNSC resolution, according to which, a panel that is investigating who is behind the alleged April 4 chemical weapons attack in the northwestern Syrian town of Khan Sheikhoun, would get its mandate extended by a year.
This was the ninth time that Russia has vetoed a UN Security Council resolution.
In the past, Russia and Syria both urged the international observers to carry out a prompt and unbiased investigation, although to no avail.
Apart from that, there is no evidence that chemical weapons were actually used in the town of Khan Sheikhoun. All of the supposed evidence, presented so far, turned out to be forged.
